While staying in Munich, Germany for a few days on our amazing, cram-as-many-cities-in-as-you-can Europe trip, we decided to take a day trip to southwest Bavaria to see Neuschwanstein Castle.
Our train ride wasn’t too long, maybe around two or three hours, but the view was breathtaking and made every moment worth the trip! When you arrive at the train station, you’ll see that you’re kiiiinda in the middle of nowhere. BUT, you’ll hop straight on a bus that will take you to the main area/street that all the lovely castles are on.
Everyone mainly focuses on Neuschwanstein (understandably), but there is actually another castle called Hohenschwangau that you can tour on the same day. Sadly we didn’t get to tour this one, but if you’re on the fence, I definitely think it would be worth a visit!
